Duggleby Stephenson, an ambitious new auctioneering enterprise, is launching an exciting state-of-the-art Saleroom at York Auction Centre this month.

The impressive new Duggleby Stephenson building which will open for sale entries for the first time at York on Monday 17th September is designed to create a bright, fresh enterprise for the buying and selling of excellent jewellery, exquisite antiques, contemporary design and fine art. It also provides an outstanding space for the expanding market in smart furniture and unique, individual lots.

“We believe buying and selling at auction should be exciting and invigorating for everyone, a really uplifting vibrant experience where buyers and sellers all go home happy with their day having enjoyed the benefits of the competitive nature of the saleroom: “ says auctioneer and fine arts expert William Duggleby who is keen to change the image of auctions.

“Where our new Saleroom differs from most is in its fresh, purpose-built interior providing everyone with a fantastic viewing area probably more closely associated with a high-end furniture showroom and separate bidding room that offers in-house and online bidders the opportunity to stake their claim to each lot in the most professional way outside of London.

“We’re conscious of the sometimes stuffy image of auctions and we’re keen to encourage younger generations. The market for quality furniture, gold, silver, diamonds and interesting antiques ready to go is proving an increased attraction among younger adults and having an auction room that matches aspirations of buyers and sellers is a huge leap in the right direction. We are looking forward to some sensational items being brought forward and there is no better time than at our first sale at these wonderful new premises that will take place in October.”

Duggleby Stephenson is a fusion of the David Duggleby business based in Scarborough that will maintain its coastal salerooms and Boulton & Cooper Stephensons of Malton and York. The new showroom and auction centre is based at York Auction Centre in Murton near York, the county’s leading multi-auction centre. William Duggleby and Rodney Cordingley will manage the business.

‘We want our first sale to create a powerful impact and we are carrying out home valuations and clearing estates already,’ says William. ‘Anyone who would like to consign items can do so right now and on Monday 17 September our doors will be officially open for free auction appraisals and advice. We’re looking forward to bringing Yorkshire a tremendously exciting auction house debut with winners all round for all our buyers and sellers.’

Duggleby Stephenson is located at The Saleroom, York Auction Centre, Murton Lane, Murton, York YO19 5GF 01904 393300
